What was done
Across three experiments, researchers evaluated how test order affects memory compared to errorless copying. Experiment 1 compared testing before study (pretest) and after study (post-test) against errorless copying. Experiment 2 evaluated pretest, post-test, and copy-test-copy conditions against errorless copying. Experiment 3 examined the pretesting effect in older adults. Error types (specifically intrusion errors) and metacognitive awareness of testing efficacy were also assessed.
What was found
