Phytochemical screening was performed on an aqueous stem extract of Fadogia agrestis. Male albino rats were orally dosed with 18 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, or 100 mg/kg body weight of the extract at 24-hour intervals. Sexual behavior parameters (mount frequency, intromission frequency, ejaculatory latency, mount latency, intromission latency) and serum testosterone concentrations were measured on days 1, 3, and 5.

What was found

The abstract reports no raw numerical values, effect sizes, or control group measurements. Phytochemical screening identified alkaloids and saponins, with weak presence of anthraquinones and flavonoids. All doses produced reported increases in mount frequency, intromission frequency, and ejaculatory latency, along with reductions in mount latency and intromission latency (reported as P 0.05). Serum testosterone concentrations also reportedly increased across all dose groups in a dose-dependent manner.
