Patients completed testing in two counterbalanced sessions: ON and OFF their standard dopaminergic medication. Cognitive effort was varied using a rapid serial visual presentation task with differing numbers of attended streams after training to ceiling performance. Participants made choices between a low-effort/low-reward baseline option and higher-effort/higher-reward alternatives. Computational modeling evaluated effort discounting, decision stochasticity, and correlations with the cognitive subscale of the Dimensional Apathy Scale.
What was found
