Two authors independently selected studies, extracted data, assessed quality, and applied the GRADE approach alongside Bradford Hill criteria to assess certainty and causality.
What was found
Meta-analysis of nine case-control studies indicated that PD occurrence was 25% higher in participants exposed to paraquat. One included cohort study showed a non-significant OR of 1.08. Subgroup analyses indicated higher PD frequency with longer exposure duration and with co-exposure to paraquat and any other dithiocarbamate.
