What was done

Healthy male participants were evaluated in two randomized trials (Study 1, n = 23; Study 2, n = 26) following a night in a sleep laboratory. Participants were exposed for one hour post-awakening at 7:30 to standardized LED lighting conditions: bright white light (414 lux) versus dim darkened light (<2 lux) in Study 1, and red light (235 lux) versus blue light (201 lux) in Study 2. Salivary cortisol concentrations were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA.
