The abstract reports no quantitative values or numbers. Adequately powered and controlled intervention trials are lacking. In multiple sclerosis, one trial reported significant results but had major methodological limitations. In psoriasis, a few publications observed benefits only in patients seropositive for anti-gliadin or deamidated gliadin antibodies, but not in seronegative patients. In type 1 diabetes, studies are contradictory, though a gluten-free diet may help normalize metabolic control without altering islet autoantibody levels. In non-celiac autoimmune thyroid diseases, the diet has not been studied, though thyroid-related antibodies responded in patients with concomitant celiac disease. Overall, evidence is insufficient to recommend a gluten-free diet to non-celiac patients with these conditions.
