What was done

Female mice were exposed to UVB light to evaluate effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, ovarian morphology, estrus duration, anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) expression, and sexual interaction behaviors. Keratinocyte-specific p53 conditional knockout mice were used to determine the mechanism. Human participants were evaluated for solar exposure, testosterone levels, and self-reported romantic passion and aggressiveness via questionnaires.

What was found

The abstract reports no numerical values or confidence intervals. Qualitatively, UVB exposure in female mice increased hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis hormone levels, enlarged ovaries, extended estrus days, and increased AMH expression, sexual responsiveness, and male-female interactions. These effects were absent in skin-specific p53 knockout mice. In humans, solar exposure was positively correlated with testosterone levels, romantic passion in both sexes, and aggressiveness in men.
