A cross-sectional, multicenter observational study measured anthropometric dimensions in 800 male patients undergoing urological procedures across four hospitals in different regions of Argentina. Investigators measured height, weight, left foot length, penile circumference, flaccid penile length, and stretched flaccid penile length to establish local reference parameters and evaluate correlations among these measurements.

What was found

Across 800 evaluated patients, the mean left foot length was 26.4 cm. Mean flaccid penile length was 11.4 cm (95% CI: 8 to 14 cm), mean penile circumference was 10.1 cm (95% CI: 8 to 12 cm), and mean stretched penile length was 15.2 cm (95% CI: 11 to 18.5 cm). The authors reported low or no correlation between penile measurements and height, weight, or left foot length, finding a correlation only between flaccid length and stretched length.

Why it matters

This study provides population-specific reference values for penile dimensions in Argentine men and indicates that common assumptions linking penile size to height, weight, or foot length are unsupported by anthropometric measurements.

Limits
