What was done
Five women who could squirt (aged 30s to 50s, not sex workers) underwent urethral catheterization to empty the bladder. A mixture of 10 mL indigo carmine and 40 mL saline was instilled into the bladder. Participants received sexual stimulation (manual or penetrative) to induce squirting, which was video-recorded. The emitted fluid was collected in sterile cups and tested for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and glucose.
What was found
All five women successfully squirted (three following manual stimulation alone, two following penetrative stimulation). The expelled fluid was visibly blue in all 5 cases (100%), demonstrating bladder origin. The fluid tested positive for PSA in 4 of 5 patients. Specific numerical concentrations for PSA and glucose were not reported in the abstract.
Why it matters
Using enhanced dye visualization, the study provides direct physical evidence that fluid expelled during female squirting originates primarily from the urinary bladder, while the presence of PSA suggests co-expulsion of secretions from Skene's glands.
Limits
The sample size is extremely small (n = 5), limiting generalizability. The study design lacks a control group or non-squirting comparators. The laboratory assay values (such as glucose concentrations or exact PSA titers) were not quantified in the abstract, and catheterization with artificial bladder filling may not fully replicate natural physiology.
