This study tested the Goldilocks Hypothesis—the idea that moderate digital media engagement is optimal while non-use and high use relate to poorer wellbeing—by replicating the methodology of Przybylski and Weinstein (2017). Using the Growing Up in Ireland 1998 (GUI98) population cohort, the authors analyzed separate weekday and weekend categorical variables for time spent online, playing video games, watching TV/films, and multiscreening frequency.
