Probiotics showed no significant effect on FEV1 (MD = 0.11, 95% CI: -0.05 to 0.26) or FEV1/FVC (%) (MD = 0.32, 95% CI: -1.48 to 2.12).

Why it matters

This review suggests probiotics may serve as an adjunctive option to attenuate airway inflammation and reduce exacerbation rates in asthma, despite exerting no detectable benefit on spirometric lung function parameters.
