Screened and verified natural short sleepers (<7 h/day; NSS) and recommended length sleepers (7–9 h/day; RLS) using a 14-day protocol of actigraphy, sleep diaries, and morning sleep restoration ratings. Participants completed a 15-minute in-laboratory resting electroencephalography (EEG) session in a low-stimulation environment, analysed second-by-second using the Vigilance Algorithm Leipzig (VIGALL) to measure objective drowsiness and sleep onset relative to subjective sleepiness.
