Subsecond fluctuations of dopamine and serotonin were recorded from the substantia nigra pars reticulata in patients with Parkinson's disease undergoing awake deep brain surgery. While undergoing intraoperative recording, participants played the ultimatum game, deciding whether to accept or reject monetary offers of varying fairness presented by human and computer players.
