What was found

The abstract reports qualitative findings and provides no numerical effect estimates, confidence intervals, or p-values. Exercise snacks consistently improved postprandial glucose, insulin, and triglyceride responses, lowered blood pressure, preserved endothelial and cerebral blood flow, and enhanced cardiorespiratory fitness. Older adults showed gains in lower-limb strength and mobility. Emerging evidence suggested improvements in mood, fatigue, and cognitive performance, with feasibility trials confirming high acceptability and adherence across settings.

Why it matters

This review shows that brief, frequent physical activity breaks offer a practical, time-efficient approach to mitigating the metabolic and cardiovascular harms of prolonged sitting across healthy and clinical populations.

Limits
