Marital conflict and endocrine function: are men really more physiologically affected than women?

The study assessed marital conflict behavior and endocrine function in 90 newlywed couples. Blood samples collected hourly from 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. were combined into composite daytime values for three stress hormones (epinephrine, norepinephrine, and cortisol) and three related hormones (ACTH, growth hormone, and prolactin) on a day that included conflict.
